When choosing double-side adhesive tape, it is indeed necessary to consider the temperature factor of the usage environment. This is because the adhesion of double-side adhesive tape is significantly affected by temperature conditions, mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Firstly, different types of adhesives have varying degrees of sensitivity to temperature. For example, hot melt adhesive may experience a decrease in its active ingredients at lower or higher temperatures, cause to a decrease in viscosity. On the contrary, oil-based adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesives are relatively insensitive to temperature changes and can maintain stable viscosity over a wider temperature range.
Secondly, temperature can also affect the bonding ability between the double-side adhesive tape and the adhesive surface. Under extreme temperature conditions, such as extremely cold or hot environments, the adhesion of double-side adhesive tape may decrease, making it difficult to form a stable bond. Therefore, when choosing double-side adhesive tape, it is necessary to ensure that it can maintain sufficient adhesion within the expected temperature range of use.
In addition, the temperature resistance of double-side adhesive tape is also an important factor to consider. Double sided tapes with different substrates have different temperature resistance properties. For example, PET substrate double-side adhesive tapes usually have good temperature resistance and shear resistance, and are suitable for working environments at higher temperatures. However, double-side adhesive tape without substrate has excellent bonding effect and waterproof performance, but its temperature resistance may be relatively low.
